Federal Treasurer Discussed NDIS with STAR Community Services
The Hon. Scott Morrison MP, Treasurer and senior member of Prime Minister Turnbull’s Cabinet and Expenditure Review Committee, discussed the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and the importance of ensuring its successful delivery with STAR Community Services General Manager, Patsy Wilshire.
Mr Morrison visited the STAR Community Services Office at Raby Bay in Cleveland, during his visit to Redlands today, accompanied by Mr Andrew Laming MP, and a number of local community representatives.
Ms Wilshire spoke to Mr Morrison about the range of Aged Care and Disability Support Services offered by STAR. “Twenty years ago, STAR started off as a community transport provider now with the reforms in Aged and Disability services we recognised the need to diversify to ensure the sustainability of our community service, ” Ms Wilshire said. Today we are proud to offer a wide range of Aged Care and NDIS services in the management of Home Care Packages, Companion Support, Social Supports, Transport and of course we also offer a successful Volunteer Resource Centre in Volunteering Redlands.” She added.
“In the budget, we have allocated funds for the NDIS. It is very important for all of us to ensure that NDIS is delivered successfully to those who need it most.” Mr Morrison commented.
After a brief discussion, Mr Morrison addressed a number of community organisations and individuals in regards to the 2017-18 budget being a “fair and responsible back to a balanced budget”. “In this budget, there are some good choices to secure the future”.
Ms Wilshire thanked the Treasurer for his visit and wished him luck saying “you can’t keep all the people happy all of the time, but thank you for your efforts”.
