ELDERLY people in Logan who want to remain independent and live in their own homes can tap into a new service.
STAR Community Services opened its doors in the city last month and is offering transport, aged care and support services to the elderly, frail and people with a disability. NDIS support and Home Care Packages are part of the service.
The not-for-profit organisation decided to move to Logan after huge success in Redland, Ipswich and the Gold Coast.
STAR Care’s manager in Logan Melissa Bannerman, who lives locally, said the service would focus on helping lonely people.
One client is 80-year-old Dorelle Stollznow, who felt alone after she lost the last member of her family.
Home Care Packages are available for those who need help with cooking, cleaning, mowing or clinical care.
