Annual Community Celebration

Community Celebration 2023

Big thanks to everyone who made the Community Celebration 2023 a HUGE success!

On Saturday 13 May, 2023, the Raby Bay Harbour Park in Cleveland came alive with music and magic.

Hosted by STAR Community Services in partnership with Volunteering Redlands, thousands turned out to mark the occasion, which officially kicked off National Volunteer Week.

A huge congratulations to the 2023 Volunteer Award Winners:

  • Carolyn Delaney from STAR Community Services
  • Terry Moran from Circle of Men
  • Suzie Tafolo from Redlands Chamber of Commerce
  • Kym Courtenay from Night Ninjas
  • Karen Franklin from Make a Wish

This year we had almost 50 volunteer nominees for the Volunteer Awards. Choosing just 5 winners was a huge challenge. Congratulations to all nominees and thank you to everyone who volunteers in the Redlands. You make our world go around.

Congratulations to the winner of the Community Celebration Short Film competition, Oaklands Street Community Garden.

Their film, titled ‘Cultivating Connections: How Community Gardens Unite Us’ showcases the positive changes that volunteering can make in the community. You can see how they came together to create this original, impactful short film. Their mission is to inspire, share and teach organic and sustainable gardening practices to all who wish to join us at the garden. The garden is a place to make new friends and enjoy social interaction.

“Our film also highlights the personal benefits that volunteers experience, a sense of fulfilment, social connections, and new skills. Overall, our film aims to inspire others to get involved in volunteering and make a positive impact in their own communities”, Alison from Oaklands Street Community Garden.

Thank you to McGrath Bayside Cleveland for sponsoring this competition.
