25 Years of STAR. Tamar Flannery

Whatever your dream is - follow it!

By Tamar Flannery.

My name is Tamar Flannery I am 38 years old and I have cerebral palsy.  I have been a NDIS participant with STAR since 2018.

In March this year, I obtained  a new piece of equipment which is a hoist and walker combined.  My STAR support workers facilitate the equipment to assist me with daily tasks and walking.  Ive been working towards my goal to walk and  I have come along in leaps and bounds in the last five months.

I’ve recently started doing Diamond art and painting canvases,  but my latest achievement is walking and doing my exercises with my EP (exercise physiologist) fortnightly, with my support worker assisting.

I still want and aspire to be an advocate to speak on behalf of  people  who can’t speak for themselves.  I have taken a break from volunteer work for the moment.  I’m hoping to get back into it in the future.

My motto is whatever your dream is - follow it!
