Please see below a message from Melissa Bannerman, STAR COO regarding a joint letter from The Hon Anika Wells, Minister for Aged Care and Professor Paul Kelly, Chief Medical Officer:
Dear STAR Client,
Summer is almost here, and unfortunately so is a new wave of COVID 19 infections. Last week, the Minister for Aged Care wrote to all older Australians to provide information regarding oral antiviral treatments for COVID 19 as well as vaccinations. Please take a moment to read the attached letter.
At STAR, we continue to take your health and safety seriously. We have asked our staff to wear masks while supporting you at home or in the community, continue to wipe down vehicles and practice universal hygiene controls. We kindly ask that you wear a mask while being transported using STAR Transport as we have had a number of instances of customers being transported to hospital appointments to find out at the appointment they are COVID positive. While these happen very rarely, and always with the person having no symptoms whatsoever, it does remain a risk.
