STAR wins Award for Championing Inclusive Workplace Practices

Redlands based iconic community organisation STAR Community Services has won the 2019 STAAR CHAMPION Award in Workplace Category.

The STAAR Awards 2019- Strategy to Action Awards Recognition- are a joint initiative of the No More Harm National Conference and the Australian & New Zealand Mental Health Association. The awards highlight, recognise and reward individuals and organisations who are actively promoting tolerance and inclusion to help stamp out bullying, harassment and discrimination in our communities and workplaces.

“We at STAR pride ourselves on our inclusive workplace practices and appreciate the diversity in our workforce. We are delighted to be the winners in the Workplace category,” said Ms Melissa Bannerman, STAR Care Services Manager. Ms Bannerman accepted the award on behalf of STAR along with STAR volunteer Adele Tresellian. The Award Presentation Ceremony was held in conjunction with the No More Harm National Conference at QT Gold Coast.

“Adele is a shining example of the diversity in our workplace. We are thankful to Adele and all our wonderful team members for creating and nurturing an inclusive workplace. As a community organisation, STAR welcomes people from all ages and abilities and encourage them to make their valuable contribution to our community and achieve their personal goals,” Ms Bannerman added.
