Event Support Volunteers needed for the Cancer Council QLD Redlands Branch
Cancer Council volunteers help to raise funds, among other activities, which go towards helping people whose lives have been affected by cancer. This means funding world-class research, prevention and support services across Australia, as well as helping patients both today and in the future.
The Cancer Council Queensland Redlands Branch are seeking several volunteers who can join their events team and help support upcoming events in the Redlands area. This includes fundraising opportunities such as sausage sizzles, info stalls in shopping centres, helping out at morning teas and more!
They would like volunteers who have flexible availability and can attend events when opportunities arise. Volunteers don't need any particular skills, training will be provided.
The Events Team volunteer tasks include:
- participating on fundraising stalls and community events
- the Redlands Branch find themselves in a position where their event volunteers are maturing. They would love to recruit a few volunteers who are physically fit and able to offer general event support, including help with setting and packing up marquees, able to set up venues with tables and chairs (not all volunteers need to do the heavy lifting)
- talking with the general public, selling items for fundraising
Volunteer attributes:
- good people skills - being able to engage with people from all walks of life
- assisting in setting and packing up stalls
- learning about the organisation and it's mission
- being a team player
Successful volunteers will be:
- be aged 18 or over
- able to volunteer between 2 and 6 hours per week
- become a Cancer Council Queensland member (free membership)
- complete an online induction course
- provide contact details for two referees
Successful volunteers will receive training and guidance.
