Volunteer STAR Inbound Contact Centre assistants

STAR Community Services is a not for profit organisation that provides a range of services to elderly and disabled people in the Redlands. To coordinate their services and to assist clients to access services they need volunteer Operators in their busy Contact Centre. 


This role includes the following responsibilities: 

  • answering phones
  • taking enquiries and assisting clients to make bookings for services
  • handling enquiries and directing calls to the relevant team/staff member
  • data entry
  • various administration duties.


  • previous phone/call centre experience (preferred but not essential)
  • strong communication skills
  • being able to interact well with clients and staff
  • basic computer skills
  • able to recognise and respect the dignity, privacy, spiritual and cultural needs of clients and have a caring compassionate nature 
  • be willing to undertake training

All staff and volunteers are required to undergo:

  • a National Police Check and
  • an NDIS Workers' Screening Check (previously a Yellow Card).

STAR will assist successful applicants assist with these checks.

Successful volunteers will also have (or be prepared to have) a current Flu Vaccination and be over 18 years of age.

Please note that COVID-19 Vaccinations are mandatory in this sector for all staff and volunteersThis is to protect vulnerable clients. If you are interested in volunteering you must provide your COVID-19 Vaccination records (including Booster shot if applicable) to Star at the induction stage. If you need help accessing your Vaccination records let us know.

STAR are looking for volunteers who are available to offer a minimum of 1 full day per week, or 2 half days, between the hours of 8.15am to 4.30pm.
