Adventist Retirement Plus Lifestyle Assistant Volunteers

Adventist Retirement Plus, local aged care facility, is seeking enthusiastic volunteers with good communication skills and a sense of fun, to support their Lifestyle Team in engaging residents in social activities.

Volunteers can engage with any of the tasks listed below or raise suggestions of their own activities:

  • Volunteers to assist with setting up and packing down activities, plus helping residents to participate. Activities may include:
    • Bingo, arts and craft, bowling etc.
    • Singing groups
    • Playing instruments
    • Poetry groups
  • Help with craft activities including:
    • painting
    • cutting and glueing
    • cooking
    • knitting
  • Accompanying residents on social excursions, including:
    • going out for ice-cream, fish and chips and/or to enjoy the view at Victoria Point. 
    • to do shopping at local chemists, hardware etc. 
    • golf buggy rides and bus trips
    • attend appointments
  • Spend one on one time with residents, for example:
    • accompanying them on a walk (on the premises)
    • visit for a cuppa and a chat - in their room/home or onsite cafe
    • reading to them or assisting them to read articles in magazines and online
    • talking about current affairs

This role will suit volunteers who:

  • have a kind, caring and fun loving nature
  • are flexible and patient
  • have good communication skills
  • be eager to help
  • volunteers must be 18 years or older
  • have current flu and COVID-19 vaccinations
  • a National Police Check (organisation will help successful volunteers to obtain this)
  • volunteers will have to complete appropriate work place training modules (hosted in person and online)

Volunteering in this environment is quite rewarding. Staff and residents alike appreciate volunteers and their contributions. Training is provided.

Volunteer hours

The organisation offers flexible hours – volunteers can determine how many hours/day/s they are able to commit to per week.
