Direct Support Workers

Are you looking for casual work or a career path where you make a positive impact on the lives of others? This role will see you working in the community, assisting clients with light domestic support, including shopping, preparing meals, escorting to appointments, respite, social activities to support clients to remain living independently and comfortably in their own homes. 

STAR is looking for Direct Support Workers to help make a difference to the lives of those who are aged, or have a disability. We are recruiting several Direct Support Workers to join our teams in Ipswich, Logan and Redlands.

About the role

In this role, you will work in the community, assisting STAR clients with light domestic support, including shopping, preparing meals, escorting to appointments, respite, social activities to support clients to remain living independently and comfortably in their own homes. This role offers variety and an opportunity for you to make a one-on-one connection with vulnerable people and make a huge positive impact in their lives.

About you

To be suited for this role you are empathetic and proactive with a genuine interest in supporting the aged and people with disability. You are compassionate, calm and caring. You are punctual, reliable and flexible. You have good communication skills, both written and verbal. You need NDIS Worker Check, First-Aid certificate, Cert III in Aged Care or Disability or Individual Support. 

What are the minimum requirements?

  • Be eligible to work in Australia
  • Open Current "C" class Qld driver's licence
  • A roadworthy, registered and insured vehicle
  • COVID 19 Vaccination not mandatory but encouraged. 
  • Flu vaccination mandatory
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or current Yellow Card)
  • A First Aid/CPR Certificate
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Certificate

Domestic Assistants

Domestic Assistants undertake a wide range of domestic tasks for individuals who choose to remain in the comfort and security of their own homes and to help them live as independent and active lives as possible by supporting them in an enablement focussed way. 

About the role

Domestic Assistants support our clients by ensuring that their homes are kept in a clean, hygienic, safe and comfortable condition according to their needs and wishes. This role involves (but not limited to) general domestic cleaning duties, washing floors, vacuuming and dusting, emptying of domestic rubbish bins and similar duties.

About you

  • You have at least 1 year of experience in a similar role
  • You are a caring person and have a genuine interest in responding to the needs of others
  • Have good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Have the physical capability to carry out a range of manual tasks

Business Services Lead 

The Business Services Lead plays a pivotal role in providing advanced business, human resource and administrative support to the Business Services Manager.  This is a position of trust that requires emotional intelligence, excellent judgement, high levels of personal integrity and discretion. The position holder is instrumental in fostering a cohesive team environment and ensuring overall operational efficiency with the team for day-to-day human resources functions, administrative operations, and providing guidance on HR and compliance matters.

What will you bring to the role?

  • Qualification in Human Resources (or related field) 
  • Previous end-to-end recruitment experience and/or previous HR experience
  • Previous contract generation for both Human Resources and external contractors
  • Familiarity with HRIS or HR database
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
  • Strong administration skills
  • Experience working with a Not For profit Organisation and Volunteers
