Get Involved

Thank you to everyone who is supporting STAR Community Services. You are making a huge difference in the lives of vulnerable people in our community.

STAR Community Services is a non-profit organisation. We rely on community support, grants and sponsorship to continue to provide quality care and reliable services. At STAR, we welcome partnerships with businesses and other organisations to harness our collective resources for the benefit of the community.

Our supporters make it possible for us to support the vulnerable members of our community live independently, engage with the wider community and achieve their goals.

Donations are gratefully received whether small or large. Your contribution will assist us in training and developing our staff and resources to expand our services to our clients. All donations are tax-deductible.

Why Support STAR?

Seniors are highly vulnerable to loneliness. Many live by themselves, have some medical condition and don’t have a set daily routine to ensure social interaction, ultimately causing social isolation.

This generation of retirees have worked, brought up children and made a difference in the world; but in this busy world now seem forgotten. For many different reasons they are on their own and they need support to live an independent life.

If you are looking for Corporate Partnerships, please contact fundraising@starct.org.au, to discuss how we can create a unique partnership that will support vulnerable members of our community.

See below for a range of options for your organisation to get involved with STAR.

Workplace Giving

Workplace Giving is an effective way for your employees to make a difference together, with the added advantage of being supported by your company to help fight against isolation for elderly members of our community.

Donations are deducted directly for the employees pay, before tax. Your employee benefits with every pay as the donation reduces their taxable income. Your company can double the impact by choosing to match their donation dollar for dollar.

Staff Volunteering

STAR Community Services has many wonderful opportunities for your staff to volunteer within your organisation.

Staff can volunteer with our Christmas Gift Appeal by helping collect non-perishable goods and gifts suitable for an elderly person in the community.

STAR has a range of singing, sporting and companion groups that would welcome your employees to assist set up the event and talk to some very eager to engage elderly people.

These activities are great for staff team building and bring the knowledge that they are letting the older members of our community know that someone cares.

Financial Support

Your financial support is needed to continue the programs that support the elderly members of our community break out of isolation, join in an activity and meet new friends. You would be directly helping the community your staff live and work in.

STAR offers a range of programs and services. You could support:

  • A sing-along group
  • Knitting for the homeless group
  • Meals4Mates program
  • STAR Volunteering program
  • Social Enterprise programs
In-kind and Pro-Bono Support

In-Kind and pro bono donations can assist in getting a vital project off the ground and keep the focus on those in need.  With tight budgets, having to purchase items and services can be an expense that would greatly restricts the end results of the program.

Your support will ensure that we continue to offer innovative and flexible services to our community.

Event Partnership

Be an event partner and participate in a range of activities organised by STAR throughout the year.

Some of the events you could partner with are:

International Volunteers Day (IVD) Expo: This annual expo coincides with United Nation's International Volunteer Day on December 5. The Expo celebrates the spirit of volunteering in the community. The Expo is very well attended by community leaders and general public. More than twenty nonprofit organisations set up a booth to promote volunteering.

Participating in the IVD expo offer an opportunity for your organisation to demonstrate its commitment to the community. Your staff could volunteer at a booth. It is a wonderful team building activity for your staff, so that they can experience first-hand the positive impact of corporate social responsibility.

There is also an opportunity for your company to hold its own awareness and fundraising event.

STAR Christmas Appeal: Bring your staff together for a common cause, with a Christmas appeal to give presents to elderly people with no family or social support.  It is estimated that by 2021, up to 24% of people living alone will be older Australians.  We want to let them know that they are not forgotten.

Your staff could rally to support the STAR Christmas Appeal by collecting non-perishable food items, toiletries and presents suitable to an elderly person and collect financial donations. This can be done online and you will receive a tax receipt for every donation over $2.

Our volunteers will collect all items on 10 December and personally give to the elderly in the community and acknowledge the generosity of your organisation.

Gifts in Wills

When making a Will, most of us first provide to the immediate and future needs of family and friends. Should there be a residual, that could benefit a large number of people, who are disadvantaged, because of age, isolation or disablement, then we would hope you may consider STAR. Your contribution will go a long way in improving the lives of those who need assistance. If you wish to become a benefactor, please contact Catherine Williams, Development Coordinator on 07 3821 6699.
