Heart Foundation Walking is one of Australia’s largest free walking programs and has been supporting communities across the country for over 30 years. The program relies upon the incredible efforts of hundreds of volunteer walk organisers who start groups and keep them active and engaged. The Heart Foundation is seeking friendly, motivated volunteers across the country to lead free walking groups in their local suburbs. Help members of your community improve their health, wellbeing, and social connection—just by walking together! No experience needed— full training, helpful resources and ongoing support provided. Volunteer Walk Organisers come from all walks of life. Walk Organisers enjoy the flexibility of deciding when/where and how often they want to walk and reap the benefits of a healthier mind and body. This role suits people who are:

· Passionate about health and wellbeing.  

· Friendly, welcoming and enjoy connecting with others.  

· Reliable and committed to organising regular walks.  

· Comfortable promoting their walking group within their community.  

· Have basic digital skills to log attendance and access online resources.  

· Able to access email and the internet to receive updates and help manage your group online.

Do you want to take an active role in helping members of your community to improve their physical health and mental wellbeing? Below is an outline of what the role entails:  

· Complete online training via video at your own pace.  

· Undertake a National Police History Check (cost is covered by the Heart Foundation).  

· Set up a walking group or help run an existing one.  

· Plan a safe walking route.  

· Promote the walk and attract new walkers.  

· Attend walks and welcome new walkers.  

· Submit attendance logs online so we can reward you and your walkers at key milestones.  

· Report any health and safety (physical or wellbeing) concerns that arise on walks. Full support and guidance on this given.  

· Maintain the privacy of group participant personal information.

Volunteers must be 18 years or older and be willing to complete a National Police History Check (covered by the Heart Foundation).
