Emergency Relief Volunteers

RCC provides a range of vital community services throughout the Redlands. 

RCC is seeking volunteers to join their Emergency Relief Volunteers team on a casual basis to cover team members when they take leave. Casual volunteers will need to cover both the Capalaba and Wynnum offices as required.

Emergency Relief Volunteers assist people experiencing crisis in a way that maintains dignity and encourages self-reliance. A client accessing the program will be supported with wrap around support through services, information and advocacy.

Successful volunteers will need the following skills:

  • to be able to communicate effectively
  • have good problem solving skills and have the ability to work through challenging situations
  • accepting of other people’s values and lifestyles
  • ability to relate to people from various walks of life
  • have a non-judgmental attitude
  • ability to work within a team environment
  • good computer skills

Emergency Relief Volunteer tasks include:

  • conducting assessments with clients in need who present to the RCC
  • identifying and recommending or referring the client to additional services that are provided within RCC framework, or via outside agency networks
  • having, or developing, knowledge of the different services and pathways of referral
  • entering all client details onto a database accurately

Successful applicants will have, or be prepared to obtain a Blue Card and National Police Check. RCC can assist with these.

RCC are seeking volunteers who can support the team on a casual basis when needed including over holidays and fill in when other volunteers take leave.

Full training will be provided to successful applicants.
