STAR Friends Volunteer role

By sharing one hour per fortnight with a new friend you can make a difference.

We are recruiting STAR Friends in the Redlands, Brisbane South, Logan, Ipswich, West Moreton, Toowoomba and Darling Downs regions. 

Through friendship visits, you will help an older person in your community feel more valued, connected and improve their quality of life by:

  • creating a sense of belonging
  • having fun together and increasing social connections
  • enhancing overall health and mental wellbeing
  • supporting participation and connection with the local community.

Some activities you could enjoy together with your new friend include: 

  • cooking a favourite meal or exploring recipes
  • going for an outing in the community
  • playing games such as board games, chess, and cards
  • arts and crafts
  • simply enjoy a cuppa and chat.

All it takes is a one hour commitment per fortnight to truly make a difference.

We are seeking kind, caring, and happy volunteers to help add a little sparkle to the lives of isolated and lonely older people.

Successful volunteers will need to obtain a National Police Check, which STAR will assist you to get. You will also need to have a current Flu vaccination.
